I’m a recreational golfer, at best. I should be playing more in order to get better at this game, because that’s what it takes to be a good golfer: Tons of rounds of golf. But the reality is that at 5 hours per round of 18 on average, it’s a time-consuming game, and time is what Realtors would call a “limited resource”. Alas, last year, I didn’t get to play even one round of golf, not even 9 holes. It’s an irony, because my wife gave me a brand-new Taylor Made R5 driver two years ago, as a gift, and it was collecting spider webs all year, last year.
Finally, this spring, I put this bad boy to work. It’s an amazing club. Tee shots anywhere between 270 to 300 yards are now a reality for me. Greens in regulation on par-4’s have improved dramatically, because a longer drive virtually guarantees that most of the time, I’m on the dance floor after my second shot. And my short game has always been decent, anyway. Now putting, that’s a different story. Anyway, I’ve been out playing 3 rounds of 18, this year. Over the Labor Day weekend, I played a fourth round with my brothers-in-law, Larry, and Manry, over at Indian Boundary. Manry plays at least once a week, and Indian Boundary is his home course. Larry who lives in Northern Wisconsin, plays in a league. So it was no surprise that both guys beat my score. But hey, I broke 100, for the first time this year. Note to self: Goal for next year: To break 90.
